Allied Orders of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR)

The Allied Orders of the Grand Army of the Republic is comprised of five organizations, each with their own National Headquarters, requirements for membership, and Constitution and Bylaws. Click on each one to see more about it and connect to the organization's website. 
Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War is open to women with Union Civil War ancestors who either belonged to or could qualify for membership in the GAR.
SUVCW medal
Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) was created in 1881 by the GAR. Membership is open to men who have an ancestor who either belonged to or was eligible to join the GAR.
Womens Relefi Corp medal
Woman’s Relief Corps is the official woman’s auxiliary of the GAR. Organized in 1883, membership is open to all women, regardless of ancestry, who ascribe to the principles of the Order.
ASUVCW medal
Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War was created in 1887. Membership is open to women with Union Civil War veterans as ancestors and spouses and daughters of SUVCW members.
Ladies of the GAR medal
Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic is an organization of ladies who trace their ancestry to a Union Civil War soldier, sailor, Marine, or member of the Revenue Cutter Service.
